Q: Who is eligible to apply for the Scholars Program?
A: The Scholars program is designed specifically for penultimate year students. However, we will review applications from students who will be entering their penultimate year within the Scholars Program calendar year.  Please note that if you are offered a place in the program, you will need to provide evidence of your year of study. 

Q: Does it matter that I have already completed internships with NHEF-partner firms?
A: No.

Q: What is the NHEF Scholars Program grade requirement?

A: NHEF’s minimum grade requirement is Second-Class (Upper) or equivalent expected upon graduation.

Q: I am not on track for a 1st or Second-Class (Upper) at university. Can I still apply to NHEF Scholars Program?

A: Yes. However, you may need to provide reasons and substantial proof (e.g. medical issues, for which the applicant would have to provide official documentation).

Q: I am not a student of any of the NHEF’s Partner Universities – can I apply?

A: To be eligible for the program, you must be studying at one of the NHEF Partner Universities. Students of Non-Partner Universities may be eligible for the program in the future.

Q: When is the deadline for the application?

A: The deadline is March 29, 2024, before 11:59pm (WAT). We recommend that you apply as soon as possible as places on the NHEF Scholars Program are filled on a rolling basis.

Q: What does the NHEF application entail?

A: The NHEF application form is very straightforward. All you need is to fill in your personal details, answer a few questions and upload your credentials. Apply here – https://portal.thenhef.org/.

Q: Can my CV and Cover Letter be more than a page?

A: No. You should submit a one-page CV and a one-page Cover Letter with your NHEF application. Kindly check this link as a guide on how to present your CV and Cover Letter – Getting Started – NHEF (thenhef.org).

Q. When will I hear back about the status of my online application?

A: You can expect to hear back within 4- 6 weeks after the application is closed.

Q: What happens after I submit my application?

A: After you submit your application, there are several stages to determine your eligibility as an NHEF Scholar. Your application will go through a series of review process and interviews stages. This year, successful applicants will be requested to write an online aptitude test as part of the recruitment process.

Q: What happens if I am successful to the final stage (recommendation stage)

A: If you are told by NHEF that you have made it to the final stage of the application process, this means that your CV and supporting documents will be sent to our partner firms for review and selection.

Q: Can NHEF provide access to more than one firm and more than one industry?

A: NHEF can recommend you to more than one industry and to multiple firms across each industry depending on information recorded in your credentials.

Q: If I am recommended will I have to go through the entire firm direct process?

A: Those that are called through to interview will be fast-tracked to final round assessment stages. However, each firm will have their individual processes, but NHEF will provide support and guidance with these interview stages.

Q: How will I know if NHEF has received my online application?

A: You will be notified on the application portal when you submit your application.

Q: I am having technical problems with my application. Who should I call?
