NHEF Online Skills Academy

In an effort to further our programs while actively engaging students especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHEF Online Skills Academy (OSA) was established to virtually provide students and young professionals with the tools and resources required to effectively build corporate professional skills and become leaders of tomorrow.

During season 1 of the OSA, students and young professionals from around the world were engaged through insightful learning sessions facilitated by industry experts from across various professional industries on various skill development exercises that are necessary to achieve career growth & development.

The benefits of networking were highlighted in this engaging session led by CEO, People’s Productivity Solutions, Kunle Malomo. The session navigated the basics of networking and the importance of building & maintaining professional relationships.

Kunle Malomo – CEO, People Productivity Solutions

Kunle Malomo is the Chief Executive Officer of People Productivity Solutions and has twenty years experience in human capital strategy formulation and implementation, strategic partnering initiatives; executive learning programs; corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions; venture capital portfolio company management; and technology innovation for mobile applications development and analytics.

The panel discussion navigated various career opportunities within the Financial Services Industry. Panelists also shared personal experiences on how to build marketable skills and the importance of building a strong network.

DANLADI VERHEIJEN – Managing Partner & Co-Founder, Verod Capital

Danladi is a Co-founder and Managing Partner of Verod. Prior to founding Verod, Danladi held roles at Citibank Nigeria, Ocean and Oil Holdings and at McKinsey & Company. He received an MBA from Harvard Business School, an M.Sc. in Engineering Economic Systems & Operations Research from Stanford University and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Calvin College. He also sits on the board of the African Venture Capital Association (AVCA) and the Private Equity and Venture Capital Association of Nigeria (PEVCAN). He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2014.

The panel discussion explored career opportunities in the legal services industry. Attendees were enlightened on various roles that a law degree could fit into, asides the mainstream roles. Panelists also shared their personal experiences through the course of their career.

DESMOND OGBA – Partner, Templars Law

Desmond Ogba is a Partner in the Finance & Projects practice Groups at Templars. He has extensive experience advising project companies and sponsors, corporates, commercial lenders, funds, multilateral and export credit agencies and other financial institutions on diverse transactions including project finance, power projects and other infrastructure development, strategic investments, international capital markets issuances, structured finance and corporate finance.

This practical and informative session on social media networking taught attendees how to leverage social media networking platforms for career growth.

This session hosted renowned Lawyer & Businessman – Gbenga Oyebode, MFR, in a conversation about leadership, business and career development. Mr. Oyebode’s session was filled with unique insights from his personal & professional experience.

Gbenga Oyebode, MFR – Chairman, Aluko & Oyebode

Gbenga Oyebode is the Chairman of Aluko & Oyebode, (Barristers & Solicitors) one of the largest integrated law firms in Nigeria, with offices in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt. He was an Associate with White & Case, New York between 1982 and 1983. Gbenga was educated at the University of Ife (LL.B Honours), and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (LL.M) graduating in 1979 and 1982 respectively.

The season finale of the NHEF-OSA Speaker Series featured Chairman & CEO of Tapestry, Inc., Mr. Jide Zeitlin as he shared his unique success story from how a small town boy from Ibadan, made it to Forbes and currently oversees operations at a fortune 500 luxury conglomerate.
